26/02/2010 We've been getting a lot sorted over the last week, we've even arranged to use a swimming pool for underwater filming, don't worry tho, it comes with it's own lifeguard!!
(above) Here's Oliver testing out our cutting edge monster effects (guffaw) Our real monster effects are going to be handled by Jamie Dew, check out his site http://www.jamiedeweffects.com/ (below) We went on a mad storyboarding/coffee/poached egg bender...
And here is a sample of what we produced...
We storyboarded all the most complex scenes, and discovered that we really want to have some slo-mo fight scene shenanigans, with lots of fist/face ripple fun.
The picture above excites me very, very much; hopefully this isnt the last time my name will be on one of these things! |

14/02/2010 We have been receiving some amazing audition videos back, hopefully we will get a few more in the next few days so we can finally make some decisions! Then we can start working on the characters with the actors and also get them measured up for special fx and prosthetics, which is very exciting!! Oliver and myself have both been trying decide on a definitive 'look' for the films monster, this is what we have come up with...
Above and below are Oliver's designs, he went for the Edgar Allan Poe style look!
Below is my design, a sort of mental green Guy Fawkes.
We will have to have a fist fight or discussion or something to decide which is best?
Oliver has also been out on his bicycle looking for locations, he's found some interesting looking places that look exactly how we described them in the script.

12/12/2009 Here are some designs by Oliver for the special effects we'll need,
(above) We need an oversized cranium and possibly a prosthetic nose and fake tash for the monster! The main character also needs various weird prosthetics for the horrendous things we have in store for him (below).

Well it's all systems go here at Monster Island Films. We have had literally some interest in regards to the roles on offer for 'Kenneth' and as you can see I've had my work cut out just trying to reply to everyone. We are still accepting applications with a view to making a decision at some point in December, to be honest we're still holding out for Sir Ian McKellen to apply for the part of the monster. Come on Ian... don't make this personal!

25/10/2009 We kicked the scripts ass!
We spent the whole week working to finish the script, turning a 120 page rambling flabby couch potato into a lean and muscular 87 page chinese gymnast. Woohoo!

25/05/2009 We had an idea that the monster in 'Kenneth' might be animated, then changed our minds; but here is what that might have looked like...

04/05/2009 Hello, welcome to the new-ish look MIFL website, we have added a few more projects to our projects page. The editing of ragged woods is still trundling along at a snails pace - but we'll get there. The script for Kenneth is being re-re-re-revised, and we have decided to make a couple more shorts this summer. Keep checking back every now and again for updates.
